Quality time
Last week, I decided to start training for a 5K. I'm not sure if I will actually sign up for a 5K - it's just a personal goal. I don't do well in crowds and these things tend to have big crowds. Anyway - Aven has been fascinated with this, and has been begging to go with me in the mornings. So, Saturday, I told her I would go with her around the small lake AFTER my jog. She loved it. We had so much fun. Now, keep in mind, the small lake is pretty small. I'm guessing not even a mile from my house, around the lake and back.
So, after that, I agreed to bring her with me this morning. I warned her we were going to be alternating between running and walking and it would be an entire 2 miles around the big lake. This routine started pretty good. She was keeping up, but having to jog just to keep up with my walking. Not even half way around the lake, she told me she was tired and was going back home. I had to laugh...was she going to swim? I had to explain to her that we were 1/2 way around the lake. Even if we went back the way we came, it would be the same distance as moving forward.
All in all, she was a real trooper. She did her best and didn't complain too much. I told her the only way she could go with me on Thursday was if she rode her bike. She agreed.
Although I love my time alone while out exercising, it's really exciting to have her with me. We have a great time together and it's great exercise for us both. This might be just what we both need to keep this up for the long haul.

How sweet and yes what a trooper for sticking with you around the lake. Lana wouldn't have made it. The small lake is about as far as she can make it just walking/running. Thats awesome that you both have that time to spend together. I don't do well arounds crowds.new people either, it just gets to me.
well, just so you know, I attended a 5k only to participate in the 1k but have learned quite a bit from this experience. Don't start at the front of the pack because your timer doesn't start until you cross the starting line and once they've all left, then you can go at your own pace...we will do this TOGETHER :)
