Aven's 5th Birthday
I have been so excited about Aven turning 5. It is such a milestone for a kid and I wanted this to be a great birthday. I spent a lot of time (too much time) thinking about how to make this an extra special day for her.
Travis decided to take the day off work to spend this momentous occasion with Aven. The plan was to take her and Kinley for donuts before school. We would then drop Kinley off in her classroom and go to Aven's classroom to participate in her "Celebration of Life" ceremony. Next, we would take Aven and her best friend to Chuck E Cheese for lunch while Kinley stayed in school. After lunch we'd go have ice-cream and then head to Toys R Us to claim the gift card they sent her for her b-day. We would end the day with a big, family celebration at home with cake and presents.
She loved the donuts. That was a big treat for her. She loved being the center of attention during her Celebration of Life ceremony. She loved leaving school with her best buddy and leaving Kinley behind. She loved going to chuck e cheese; for about 20 minutes. She quickly became grumpy and wanted to go home. She didn't even want to cash in her tickets that we have been collecting for 5 years. We decided to take her friend back to school and head home. She spent the remainder of her day on the couch, sucking her thumb and watching TV. She was sad and pathatic. I knew she felt bad when I told her we had to cancel her birthday party and she said, "Okay".
This picture sums up her b-day.

We had to postpone her party, and she seems perfectly content to do it another time. I hope to pull it off this weekend, but it might have to be in March. I'm sad that my baby didn't get to enjoy her big day, but I'm glad she is feeling better.
I love you AVEN!
