Fun on the phone

I got a delinquent bill from Kelsey Seybold for Aven's 4 year check up. They say we owe $20. I call to find out why. Person #1 tells me that I owe a $40 co-pay and not $20, so that is why I'm being billed.

I call insurance. and speak to Person A. No, that's not right, I only owe $20. The claim was processed correctly.

I call Kelsey back. Person #2 tells me that I owe a $20 co-pay for the visit AND a $20 co-pay for the visual screening, even though it was done on the same appointment. She then harasses me about our insurance not paying for the immunizations and only the visit. I tell her that I will be concerned with that when I get a bill and until then, it's Kelsey's problem, not mine. That did not make her happy.

So, I call the insurance company back. Person B explains again that the claim was paid correctly and that I do NOT owe a second co-pay for the vision test. Plus she tells me that they have not received a claim for immunizations, that's why it hasn't been paid.

I call Kelsey for the third time. Person #3 quickly sees that there was a system error and I do not owe the $20. They accidentally entered the vision test for $3 instead of $23. She submitted the bill for review and told me to disregard the notice. I told her that insurance has not received the second claim and she agreed to resubmit.

I love our medical system and all the wonderful people they hire and don't bother to train!

Imagine what it will be like if we go to a national health care system.

Yea, Kelsey Seybold used to be okay but now their billing system is crazy - I have had this happen several times.
